FAQs

These frequently asked questions are intended to clarify how the Atria system works, what it is designed to do, and what is expected of the beekeeper using it. If you don’t see your question here, or if your situation is more specific, we encourage you to reach out and start a conversation.

General

Atria is a fully integrated vertical beekeeping system designed around how beekeepers actually work. It houses one or more complete hives within a single system and provides direct, ergonomic access to brood and honey without stacking or lifting boxes.

Atria is a beekeeping system. Depending on the configuration, it may be housed within an integrated beehouse (Double, Double Accessible, Quad) or mounted into a customer-built structure (DIY).

No. Atria does not simplify beekeeping or reduce the skill required. It preserves hands-on colony management while reducing unnecessary physical strain and improving access.

Beekeeping & Colony Management

Atria changes how you access the hive, not how you manage it. Brood is inspected top-down via a drawer-based brood chamber, while honey frames are accessed horizontally from the rear of the system.

Yes. All standard beekeeping practices still apply. Atria does not automate or replace decision-making; it supports consistent, attentive inspections.

Yes. Atria is designed for beekeepers who intend to remain actively involved in colony management over the long term.

Configurations

Atria is available in four configurations: Atria Double, Atria Double Accessible, Atria Quad, and Atria DIY.

Both are two-hive systems housed in an integrated beehouse. The Double Accessible is configured with reduced height and seated access, using a three-chamber layout rather than the four-chamber height of the standard Double.

The Quad houses four hives within a single integrated beehouse and is designed for higher-capacity sites without changing inspection workflow.

Atria DIY uses the same internal hive system as other configurations but allows the customer to design and build the surrounding structure. It is intended for custom installations, existing buildings, or mobile setups.

Installation & Site Requirements

Space requirements vary by configuration. For example, the Atria Quad requires a 4 ft × 8 ft footprint. Detailed dimensional requirements are provided during the quoting process.

Yes. All Atria systems require a level and flat installation surface capable of supporting the system’s weight.

Yes. Atria DIY is specifically designed for integration into existing or custom-built structures.

Ordering, Shipping & Support

All Atria systems are built to order in Canada. Each system is fabricated based on configuration, access requirements, and delivery needs.

Lead times vary depending on configuration and production schedule. Estimated timelines are confirmed during the quoting process.

Yes. Atria systems are shipped within Canada and to the United States. Shipping methods and costs vary based on system size, destination, and site access.

Shipping and delivery are quoted separately and are based on configuration, distance, and delivery requirements.

Yes. Financing and staged payment options may be available depending on the project scope. Details are discussed as part of the quote process.

Apiverte provides documentation and ongoing product support related to system use and maintenance. Hands-on training is also available at Apiverte’s facility in La Pêche, Québec, for beekeepers who want in-person guidance with their Atria system. Atria is designed for experienced, hands-on beekeepers, and support focuses on the system itself rather than colony management.

Yes. Design review and consulting services are available on a fee-based basis, particularly for Atria DIY and custom installations.

Atria is designed and built in Canada and is patented in Canada and the United States.

Getting Started

Atria is beginner-friendly in its access and ergonomics, but beekeeping itself still requires knowledge and skill. Beekeeping courses or formal education are highly recommended for anyone starting out, regardless of the system used. Atria is not a shortcut or automated system.

No. Apiverte supplies the beekeeping system only. Beekeepers are responsible for sourcing and managing their own colonies.

Yes. Atria has been developed and tested in Canadian conditions and is designed to support full-season beekeeping.

Review the configuration comparison, explore individual product pages, and request a quote to discuss your space, access needs, and goals.

Yes. Requesting a quote or more information starts a conversation and does not commit you to a purchase.
